A rainless cold front passed through Belize last night. Right now we are in a cool, clear and very dry air mass. The chance of rain from now going forward is very low.

There was more rain last night, 14 mm or over 1/2 in. This brings the 3 day total to 3.3 inch or about the same as for the entire month of December 2012. The dry and rainy seasons seem to be reversed! The image shows the footprint of a tropical wave over the east Caribbean, unusual for this time of year.

A strong Cold Front is situated to the north of Belize. This is lifting warm moist air flowing in from the Caribbean causing moderate to heavy rain showers from low clouds over Belize. Rainfall measured today 34 mm or 1.35 inches. The ground is pretty saturated after the January rainfall of 246 mm or 9.7 inches. Today's rain brings the total for the year so far up to 11 inches. The dry season should be starting soon.
