With the LOW now south of Belize over Honduras, a Thunder Shower was generated and moved from east to west across Belmopan between 1600 hr and 1645 hr. This shower produced about 1/4 inch of rain. This brings the total rainfall for today up to 0.65 inches.
Sunday Update: There was a trace of rain around sunrise 2 mm, the rest of the day was sunny and warm. The rest of the week should be nice.
The sky has been overcast for the past few days with only a trace of rain. Today there is a mid level LOW situated over Guatemala. This is producing some very light rain this afternoon over Belize. Measured only 3.5 mm.
A strong Cold Front passed through Belmopan late in the afternoon with gusty North wind and light rain. Preceding this front was a weak squall line before noon which produced just over 1/2 inch of rain. The next few days will be cloudy and cool.
The area of moisture that has been surrounding Belize since the beginning of the month is finally dissipating. The total rainfall for the month so far is 6.7 inches. This is more rain than all of November and December combined. The tropical wave responsible for the rain is moving away and we are now in a fresh SE air flow behind the wave.
