The area of moisture that was previously headed this way was eliminated by an Upper Level High that moved in from the Pacific across Guatemala and passed just south of Belize.

We are now right back in to very dry air with no sign of moisture anywhere in the area as shown in the image.

The area of cloudiness has reduced in size and has reached the coast of Nicaragua. This area may produce some showers over Belize tomorrow Saturday Feb. 26, 2011.

Today was hot, dry and windy like yesterday.

Since last Saturday the weather has been very warm (almost too hot) and dry. Today was very windy.

But now an interesting feature has emerged in the eastern Caribbean. A large area of cloud has burst up from South America such that there is a sharp contrast between the edge of the cloud and the clear dry air to the north.(bright orange). This mass of cloud is moving westward. Will be following its progress.

More Rain

A very strong High Pressure cell near Florida generated a moist NE air flow pushing southwestward across Belize. This produced some Thundershowers on the afternoon of Friday February 18 followed by some light rain during the morning of February 19 producing about 20mm of rain. Directly behind this system towards Cuba is a narrow band of very dry air. See image. In my opinion this instability may be due to a recent increase in solar activity. Several large sunspots are currently present. At the same time, the moon is in its full phase. The night of February 19 will be clear and cool. Total rainfall so far this month is 5.4 inches, more than all of December plus January combined.

Finally Some Rain

After weeks of abnormally warm, dry weather, the country is finally having a significant rainfall, the most rain since the beginning of December. This rain is the result of a cold front which became stationary just off the coast of Belize.
Over the past 2 days we have had 99mm (3.9 inch) of rain. This is more rain than the entire month of January which received only 74mm for the month.

January 2011 was warmer and drier than normal. The nights were not as cold as usual for January. In contrast, December 2010 was cooler than normal.
