The area surrounding Belize has become unusually moist for this time of year. There has been more showers over the past 24 hours, with an additional 12 mm of rain. It now looks like the arrival of the dry air may be delayed. The total rainfall for January 2012 was recorded to be 222.5 mm or 8.8 inches. This is above normal. The soil moisture is high for this time of year, good new crops but not so good for crops maturing.
