A late season cold front passed across Belize last night. There was some lightening around but rainfall was scattered and very light in Belmopan. During the day there was a brief shower mid afternoon. Total rainfall for the period was only 9.0 mm. The hot, dry weather should return tomorrow. The total rainfall for the month of March 2013 was 63.5 mm or 2.5 inches which is a bit below normal.

A strong cold front crossed Belize last Friday and pushed all the way down to Panama. There was very little rainfall associated with the front, measured only 5 mm. by Friday night. A cold High pressure cell now sits almost directly over Belize. We can expect a cold night tonight, maybe the the coldest night of this winter season.
Monday morning: Did not get as cold as expected last night.
Got down to about 63F or 17C. However tonight may be colder than this.

There was more rain last night, 14 mm or over 1/2 in. This brings the 3 day total to 3.3 inch or about the same as for the entire month of December 2012. The dry and rainy seasons seem to be reversed! The image shows the footprint of a tropical wave over the east Caribbean, unusual for this time of year.
