The position of the cold front is now clearly visible in the surface wind image. The front should begin to cross through Belize sometime after sunset. Not sure if this will produce any rain at this time.

Belize is between a band of high cloud to the north and west and very dry air to the south east. There is a cold front that is currently moving off the coast of Texas and beginning to cross the Gulf of Mexico. The cold front is expected to be close to Belize by Wednesday night. Will follow the progress. The whole Caribbean is very dry.

Sunday, December 21, 2014

There was no rain at all from the system mentioned in the last report. The system went north missing Belize completely. Late this afternoon some high cloud moved across Belize from the southwest. The Caribbean basin is very dry. According to the Caribbean Climate Change group (the CCCCC) the coming dry season may be very severe. There could be very little rainfall over the next 5 months. This is not good news. Here in Belize the 2014 rainfall is already well below normal. I may have to abandon plans for having any sort of productive garden.

Most of the moisture associated with the weak trough of low pressure east of Belize appears to be moving up to the northwest and bypassing Belize completely. The bottom end of the trough may sweep towards Belize in the morning producing some light rain but I expect no more than an few mm, not enough to bring relief from the very dry conditions.

The weather here in Belmopan has been sunny and cool since my last report. It has been very dry. Rainfall is well below normal. Plants in my garden are already suffering due to lack of rain. There is a weak trough creeping slowly westward towards Belize. It is surrounded by very dry air. Will see how this looks in the morning.

Sunday, November 30, 2014

Light rain is falling right now as a low level weather system moves westward towards Belize. The problem is that this system is fighting a very strong upper level wind shear shooting across Belize from west to east. This could limit the amount of rainfall from this system. The red colour indicates that there is very little convection in this this system.

A Cold front is presently approaching Belize.
The pre-frontal storm cells are moving from south to north. Not much rain associated with the front at the moment. Will see what this weather looks like in the morning. The main front is not supposed to arrive until tomorrow morning after sunrise.

A Cold Front has crossed Belize and has become more or less stationary in the Gulf of Honduras.
Light Rain has been falling all evening and continuing into this night. There is a cool north wind blowing. This stationary front is suppose to become diffuse Thursday morning.

There is a Cold Front moving across the Yucatan that may affect Belize tonight. This keep the weather in Belize cool and dry for the next few days.

Saturday, November 1, 2014

A weak cold front passed though Belize last night with a cool north wind. A stronger cold front is now just approaching the northern Yucatan. This cold front should reach Belize tonight. There is not much rain associated with these fronts.
