There has been no weather activity since my last report. Just hot dry weather every day. There is a large mid level High Pressure centred just north of Cuba's western tip. This is causing a hot and dry south easterly air flow across Belize. No rain in sight until perhaps late in the week.

There is an Upper Level Low at 19.5W, 82.4W which is south of Cuba and west of Jamaica. An area of rain is heading west towards Belize. This should arrive this afternoon sometime. There have been already a few showers in Belmopan this morning. The nights of August 13 and 14 tropical waves passed with lots of thunder and lightening. Provided a combined rainfall of 36 mm. The storms developed rapidly overnight and lasted about 3 hours each. The next tropical wave is currently in the eastern Caribbean.

Weather activity in the Caribbean is very low. The area is dominated by very dry air. Rainfall for Belize is well below normal.

A new Inverted Trough lies to the east of Belize in the Gulf of Honduras. Most of the moisture ls found to the east of this trough. The band of moisture is moving slowly to the west. Will check on this system in the morning.

Another Inverted Trough has formed off the east coast of Belize. However, this one has less moisture except for an area in the north east corner of Honduras. There is not much chance of any significant rainfall until after the weekend with the approach of a Tropical Wave.

The Wind Shear across the Caribbean has become much more chaotic compared to a few weeks ago. The zonal dry season wind pattern seems to have been disrupted. This could indicate much more unstable weather ahead. The low pressure trough mentioned this morning caused an explosion the thunder showers inland over Belize around 1PM. I measured 12 mm of rain.

There is an Inverted Trough to the east of Belize extending up to the western end of Cuba. An area of convection lies to the west of this trough. Belize should experience a few thunder showers over the next 24 hours. This will be followed by sunny and hot weather again.

An Upper Air Low has drifted westward and now is located at 18.4N, 88.8W which is the northern region of Belize. This low is circulating Hot and Dry air across the central part of Belize. There is a broad Tropical Wave passing through the Saharan Air Layer. This wave could begin the affect Belize sometime later this week. Will keep a watch on this one.

A tropical wave has intensified over Central America p[producing frequent showers with some thunder. Have measured 29 mm rain since last night. The main storm centre is over Honduras. Weather should clear after this system passes. There is a small upper low over Jamaica.
