A strong cold front crossed Belize last Friday and pushed all the way down to Panama. There was very little rainfall associated with the front, measured only 5 mm. by Friday night. A cold High pressure cell now sits almost directly over Belize. We can expect a cold night tonight, maybe the the coldest night of this winter season.
Monday morning: Did not get as cold as expected last night.
Got down to about 63F or 17C. However tonight may be colder than this.

A strong Cold Front is situated to the north of Belize. This is lifting warm moist air flowing in from the Caribbean causing moderate to heavy rain showers from low clouds over Belize. Rainfall measured today 34 mm or 1.35 inches. The ground is pretty saturated after the January rainfall of 246 mm or 9.7 inches. Today's rain brings the total for the year so far up to 11 inches. The dry season should be starting soon.

Sunday Update: There was a trace of rain around sunrise 2 mm, the rest of the day was sunny and warm. The rest of the week should be nice.
The center of the mid-upper level LOW has not yet weakened and has drifted to the SE towards Honduras. This morning we are getting some continuous light rain.

The area of moisture that has been surrounding Belize since the beginning of the month is finally dissipating. The total rainfall for the month so far is 6.7 inches. This is more rain than all of November and December combined. The tropical wave responsible for the rain is moving away and we are now in a fresh SE air flow behind the wave.
