The sub-tropical jet has made a sharp right turn and is diving south towards Panama. This seems to be caused by a pair of blocking High Pressure cells to the east. There is another High Pressure to the west of Mexico. The result is that the jet is getting squeezed between these cells. With all this high pressure around the chance of any rain is pretty low.
